Hi y'all!
It was great to see our class represented so well represented at Altoona Day in Largo, FL. in Feb. Jim Lane (Class of '58) arranged to run a photo of classmates in attendance  in a story in the Mirror. Check out the newspaper archives under Life & Communit.

Just got off the phone with my sister Judy and she told me about this website. It was sad to see so many of the class is deceased.  I still have them in my minds eye as 18 year old kids.  Me, I'm retired and have lived in Mesa Arizona for 34 years.  Oh yes, I'm still an 18 year old kid. I will be at the 59th.

Hello class of 1961. I am the daughter of your classmate David Lee Barr. My family and I vacationed in Altoona 2 years ago so that I could show my children where their Poppy grew up. Dad is deeply missed every day but not forgotten. If you are ever in Washington D.C. he and my Mom are buried at Arlington National Cemetary. Thank you for putting his name on your deceased list. I would love to hear from anyone who knew my Dad or my Grandfather Francis B. Barr. Take care and Merry Christmas. Dawn Barr- Bauserman

If I can ever do anything from a distance, please let me know. Would love to help! Armando and I live at the beach now near Fenwick, Delaware. Please email me or look us up when in the area!! Wow, what a great weekend! Many thanks to all of our classmates who worked so hard to put the events together. A number of us took digital pictures. I’ll be glad to collect the best ones and make them available to anyone who might be interested. If you’d like to share your pictures, please e-mail them to me (a few at a time) at sjmkalex@verizon.net or contact me about sharing a CD. We’ll figure out how to distribute the images once we see how many contributions we get. Take care and be safe.

Wow! What a job the committee did to prepare for those of us who have scattered to the corners of the country. I wish I had had more time with each of my old friends. You can count on me to make the cross-country trek again in 2011. Laura Cochran(Wood) had it right on. The years melted away and it was like being kids again(although in 1961 I'm sure we all thought we were very grown up) AS I said on these pages before the reunion, I love you all. Good health to everyone and see you for our 50th.

Dear AHS Class of 1961 Reunion Committee, Thank you for arranging such a wonderful reunion. The work that you do allows each of us the only opportunity we have to renew and appreciate the friendships from our youth on a grand scale. Hi, If you ever want to feel like you were 18 again, go to your high school reunion. This will definitely do the trick. The forty-five years just melted. What an awesome get together. You committee guys did a fantastic job and deserve a round of applause. I had such a great time that the memories will last me until the 50th. Five years will be here before you know it!!

You made it so great, particularly for those of us who are out of town to just come back, enjoy each other and have a wonderful time. You made it go so smoothly but obviously it took a lot of effort from all of you to make it happen and it is greatly appreciated. Thanks again...

Hi It is good to hear from old classmates as I have lost touch with people since I have no family in Altoona any more. I have been living in Statesboro Georgia since 1974 having moved from Cherry Hill N.J. It was culture shock at first as Statesboro was a small farming community that did happen to have a college which is now a University (Georgia Southern University). Now we are becoming an extension of Savannah Georgia. I attended GSU then became a real tratior by attending University of Georgia for my Social Work degree. Presently I am enjoying retirement after working in Mental Health for the state of Georgia for 30 years. My husband. a high school guidance counselor, just retired retired so we are enjoying some freedom. Our son, Michael, is a pilot in the Army Guard Unit (full time position) in Fresno, CA. He spent time as a search and rescue helicopter pilot in Afghanistan and is now with a fixed wing unit and on orders for Iraq. At least his present position is safer than in SAR. I look forward to seeing friends at the reunion and greatly appreciate all the work the committee has done to bring the reunion forward. Sharron

Hi to everyone, my husband and I are looking forward to the reunion and getting back to Altoona. The Italian food in Tennessee is pretty rough. I've only been here 45 years and need more visitors. I work full time so please give me a little notice. I had breast cancer last year, and all that it entails. I am thankful to be alive, so I am doubly anxious to see everyone. For those of you who had Reba Franklin at Baker school, she is 97, now my step-mother and lives on. She will outlive us all. No thanks will ever be enough to show our gratitude to this committee who work tirelessly to get our class together. Those of us who live outside of Altoona are especially appreciative. Can't wait to visit-love, Lou

Hi everyone, Although I'm on the missing list, I'm still very much alive and living in Vermont! Enjoyed reading the messages and wondered if anyone remembered me, when I heard from Jennie Goldstein. We were in the senior class play together. I'm still very active in community theatre and run a small museum in Vermont where I do history plays. Rarely get to Altoona, but would love to hear from anyone who remembers the old high school building, how we used to get to the backstage area from Miss LeVan's office and what happened to the kids (now elders?) in our Drama Dept. gang.
